Cayla Salvador is an artist, educator, and ecology enthusiast based in the San Francisco Bay Area. She is endlessly inspired by our surrounding local

ecosystems -  both on land and in the coastal waters.

Cayla is always surprised by the new directions that her work takes her. Lately, she has been altering simple shapes by pushing the clay to the brink of elasticity, then adding texture to reflect forms found in nature. She works with a range of mid and high fire clay bodies.

In the past few years Cayla has discovered her passion for wood firing. If the season and rainfall permits, she wood fires her pieces for days on end at high temperatures in large outdoor kilns with a group of artists. She continues to explore her practice with an incredible local atmospheric firing community that she is honored to be a part of.
